Blue Hexagon Sapphire Ring in Ethical Gold

The calm ocean holds the tale of a lifetime, like this blue sapphire with its sparks and speckles within. This gold ring features a 1.60 ct Borneo sapphire surrounded by six salt and pepper diamond from Botswana.

Set in an open bezel setting, it's suitable as an ethical engagement ring for those who love to live and appreciate life as is.

You’ll receive the exact blue hexagon sapphire ring from the photos. It’s one of a kind and ready to ship, which means once you place your order it can be on your doorstep a week from now.

Ethical sapphire

The sapphire measures 8.2 x 5.9 x 3.7 mm. It was mined by hand by artisanal miners in Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. These miners are indigenous Dayak men and women, who received a fair price for their rough sapphires.

To get this sapphire, I travelled 3 days into the remote jungles of Borneo. I slept in a tiny village along the river, and mined together with the miners. I then purchased the rough (a 3.81 ct chunk of silky blue) directly from one of the miners.

The rough sapphire has been cut into a hexagon shape at the all female cutting facility Paradise Gems in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka.

The final sapphire is natural blue, without any heat treatment. It's silky with some crystal patterns and rainbows throughout the face of the gemstone. It's not perfect, but this gem sure has stories to tell!

You can see how this sapphire is fully traceable from mine to ring, and why I dare to say it's been ethically sourced!

Sapphire - September birthstone

Sapphire is the September birthstone. This mesmerizing gemstone symbolizes wisdom, loyalty and faith. She was once believed to protect your loved ones from harm.

At first glance, sapphire gleams with power and strength, but her true colors shine within kindness and hope – that’s the stone’s real secret sauce. Sapphire lets us get real because she offers great wisdom of intuitive truth, insight and healing. A symbol of friendship and peace, and a shield for negative energy.

Diamond

The most notorious, famously famous of all the crystals – the diamond is the April birthstone and a hell of a fighter. It’s a crazy powerful stone that enhances inner vision. Diamonds make happiness a million times better. It’s a stone to bring forth the art of “more”. Whatever you feel inside, diamond amplifies it tenfold.

The diamonds used in this jewelry have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. These diamonds are conflict free, based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds. Our supplier guarantees that they are conflict free and traded in accordance with the Kimberley Process.

Our signature ethical gold

We use 18 karat ethical gold, which is mined and processed with traditional, mercury free, low impact practices by indigenous Dayak women in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, who receive fair pay.

Love my custom!

*** Sorry, left on the wrong posting *** The custom birthstone design process was super easy and well thought out! I enjoyed picking the birthstones from the drop down menus. When it was finished they sent a cute little photo shoot of the necklace exactly like the other listing photos on their website (high quality - see below). The necklace was perfect the first go around and I did not need them to edit anything, although I am sure that process would have been as seamless as the rest. With how quality the photos are it can be hard to remember how small millimeters are, but I think the daintiness just adds to the overall feeling. I love it!

Amazing!!!

I ordered this ring as a replacement for my wedding rings bc I lost a whole bunch of weight and couldn’t get my originals resized. I was worried it was gonna look huge on my hand but it’s perfection. I can’t stop looking at it. I will definitely order from Gardens of the sun again!
