Your stones are responsibly sourced, set in recycled silver, and made into sterling silver birthstone pendants that feel personal from the first sketch.

Your custom necklace design
Design a custom birthstone necklace that feels personal from the very first sketch. You dream it up, we bring it to life. Each necklace made to order, by hand, just for you.

You can choose what length you need and personalize it even more by adding an engraved coin or tag with initials, a name, date or short personal inscription.

You get to create your own birthstone necklace with layout options that match how you live. Each gemstone is wrapped in a classic bezel setting. Your necklace can be a custom birthstone pendant moment or a whole lineup of pendants:
- Gems dangling individually like charms. This creates sterling silver birthstone pendants you can move and layer. Best for one or two stones.
- Gems set directly into the chain so they lie flat against your skin. Sleek, easy, and great for a necklace with multiple birthstones.
- Split dangle: 2, 3, or 4 stones across the top and one (or more) hanging below.
Add names and personal engraving
Want an engravable birthstone necklace or custom name and birthstone necklace? You can add an engraved tag with personal dates, names, initials, coordinates or a love message. All personalization is done by hand.

- 6 mm coin: handwritten symbol or initials (up to 3 characters)

Choose your chain and length
Choose between our dainty link chain or rope chain, as shown in the photos. We can make any necklace length you want. If you don't see the length you want, choose 'other' and leave a note at checkout to let us know what length you need. Each necklace can be shortened up to 3.5 cm (1.4") with a special extension chain.

Your sterling silver birthstone necklace is made to order with a production time of 6 to 8 weeks.
The base price is for a single birthstone necklace. Each additional birthstone is $20 extra. Some premium gemstones, like diamonds, are more expensive.
Since your custom birthstone necklace will be made especially for you, we don’t accept returns.
Free mockups beforehand
You can get up to three free mockups before we start production. We’ll show you different layouts and gemstone placements so you can build a birthstone necklace that feels right. You can adjust the birthstone necklace design until it clicks.
Pictures when it's done
Once your custom birthstone necklace is finished, we’ll send photos before it ships so you can make sure it’s everything you imagined. Please make sure our emails land in your inbox and not your spam folder to avoid delays.
Recycled sterling silver
We work with a local refiner who recycles silver from post-consumer sources like old jewelry, silverware, and even silver recovered from x-rays and medical waste. This doesn’t stop new silver from being mined (most silver is a byproduct of other metals), but it does cut emissions by about 8x compared to newly mined silver. It also keeps what already exists in circulation instead of letting it go to waste.
Want to join in? If you have old silver jewelry or silverware gathering dust, bring it to our showroom. We’ll recycle it and give you shop credit in return.

I'm very happy with how my ring turned out and the excellent customer service at Gardens of the Sun. I'll give some context on why i chose Gardens of the Sun. I had gotten married and my husband and I bought each other simple wedding bands. The entire process of getting married was very simple and happened fairly quickly, we had no engagement and thus no engagement rings and our ceremony was a quick solemnisation witnessed by 50 of our closest friends and family members. My husband wanted to gift me with another ring, this time with a diamond or gemstone topping it. And because of my picky nature, he let me choose the shop and design myself. Of course I wanted a gorgeous ring but what was equally important to me were three additional requirements: I wanted the ring to come from a small company, not large brands like Tiffany; I wanted the ring to improve and support the community it operates it and not just profiting the owners; and I wanted all the components of the ring to be sourced ethically. It was mightily difficult to find a company that meets my requirements and falls within the budget so I was very much over the moon when i found Gardens of the Sun on instagram!
I can't emphasize enough how beautiful the ring in person, I gasped when I first saw it. The gemstone is a 2.44 carat sapphire sourced from Tanzania. I love its details like the minor inclusions and how in different lights, it could look mossy-green or verdant green.
Thank you to the team, especially Rissa for patiently answering my numerous queries! If you're considering getting a custom ring, do it! My only advice is that it does take quite a long time (at least 10 weeks) so do factor that into your timeline!
