Custom Australian Opal Ring in Gold

Design your own opal engagement ring or self love ring.

Choose an Australian opal that speaks to you and let's get started! Each opal is a solid, natural opal and has been responsibly sourced from Australia.

Opal

Opal is the October birthstone. Flashes of color dancing in a glimmering stone, there’s not much that needs to be said about its beauty. This gemstone is as versatile as it is colorful – use it for playfulness and strength, tenderness and truth, to amplify your karma and keep your cool all at once.

Opal absorbs and reflects light as it dances, and likewise, it picks up thoughts and feelings, desires and buried emotions, amplifying them and returning them to the source. Opal helps you to let go of patterns of fear, anger, negativity and self-harm. If you need to let go of the one who doesn’t deserve you, have faith in Opal and this too shall pass.

With a hardness of 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale, opal is a softer gemstone. This means that opal can easily be scratched, even by dust particles. High heat and sudden temperature changes can cause opal to crack. Because opals are porous you should avoid contact with chemicals, cosmetics and household cleaners while wearing your opal. Don’t wear your opal jewelry during physical activity, like sports or gardening. The only safe way to clean opal is with warm, soapy water.

We’re making this for you, from scratch

Your custom shape gemstone ring will be made to order with the gemstone of your choice in around 8 to 12 weeks. You'll receive a photo before we ship it out. The price is for one finished ring in 18 karat eco gold.

Since your shape stone ring will be made especially for you, we don’t accept returns on custom orders. You can read our return policy here.

Your custom ring design

Metal

You can choose from 18 karat yellow gold, rose gold or white gold. We use 18 karat ethical gold, which is mined and processed with traditional, mercury free, low impact practices by indigenous Dayak women in Central Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo, who receive fair pay. Our 18 karat white gold is alloyed with palladium. This white gold has a warm gray color. If you prefer that white metal look, we recommend adding rhodium plating for $50.

Ring size

We use US ring sizes.

    Setting

You can choose between a bezel setting, which has the gold all the way around the stone and a prong setting, where small claws hold the stone. Not sure which setting is right for you? Compare bezel vs prong setting here.

    Diamonds in band

Want to add some extra sparkle? Pave diamonds in the ring band can really elevate the look of your ring. Choose between salt and pepper diamonds (the rebellious budget option) or white diamonds (G-H color, SI clarity).

    Engraving is on us

We offer complimentary engraving on the inside of your ring to personalize it even more. Our team will reach out to you after your purchase for details.

    Conflict free diamonds

The diamonds used in this jewelry have been purchased from legitimate sources not involved in funding conflict and in compliance with United Nations resolutions. Based on personal knowledge and/or written guarantees provided by the supplier of these diamonds they are conflict free and mined in accordance with the Kimberley Process.

Gardens of the Sun goes beyond conflict free. Since our sourcing policy came into effect in November 2018 we only purchase diamonds from known origins. We avoid sourcing diamonds from Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Russia (last purchased in 2019), Sierra Leone and Zimbabwe.

    Stunning custom opal ring

I had a fantastic experience working with Shenny, from picking out the perfect stone (she sent me additional pictures of the ones I was interested in), to creating a mockup so that I could see if yellow gold would look good with the stone, to keeping me updated every step of the way after that. When the ring was finished, she sent me final pictures, and I had a chance to request any last changes. The ring was shipped out promptly after that, and I received it in just a few days even though I am in the US! When I put it on, it fit perfectly. The opal sparkled with its hidden fire in a variety of different lights, and my breath was taken away. I will truly cherish wearing this ring. Thank you Shenny and Gardens if the Sun!!

    Amazing personalized service for custom

I chose Gardens of the Sun for my, now fiance's, engagement ring because of their ethical practices and unique desings. There were a few things I wasn't sure about on the custom page, so I reached out to them. From the very beginning, Maharani was quick to respond and very helpful in the highly personalized design process. I could tell she was eager to help me create the perfect ring and had absolute positive vibes the whole time. As for the ring, well it turned out to be perfect for us and my fiance can't stop looking at it! We will definitely be returning to Gardens when it comes to the wedding bands and I can't wait to see what they help us come up with next.

    Birthstone ring in silver

My partner ordered my ring for my 30th birthday gift and it's beautiful! I chose my birthstone tourmaline, his as emerald, and then a moonstone to contrast with the greens. It's just like the photos and is even better in person. I also got a nesting silver ring to compliment it and it looks lovely with and without it. This is my second ring from you guys, as my partner got my engagement ring here last year. <3 Very happy with my purchase, and I love supporting Gardens of the Sun.

    Birthstone Ring in Sterling Silver

So happy with my Birthstone ring! Combined sapphire with citrine for the two stones. Sapphire for the month of September and Citrine for the sign of Libra. Great communication throughout the process. And the ring was sized just right. This is my second purchase from Gardens of the Sun. I’m sure to be back again. Thank you.
