The boyfriend stacker is an expression of your personal style and story. On that note, it should go without saying that this stacker is for anyone and everyone.

The boyfriend stacker is exactly that – a stacking band that can be worn by both him and her. Wear it by yourself, or get them as “his and hers" matching bands (or “hers and hers”... or ‘his and his”... Define love on your own terms!).

Our unisex boyfriend stacker comes in multiple sizes, widths, and three different finishes: wabi sabi, turtle and shadow:

• Wabi sabi means accepting one’s imperfections. The edge of our wabi sabi band is hammered. This slightly rugged finish gives the ring a whole new dimension.  The bumps are smaller and deeper than our faceted finish, giving it a more grainy texture. It’s set on a shiny base for a contrasting effect, and can be black rhodium plated for a glossy look.
• The texture of the rustic turtle band was inspired by a turtle shell. Wear it as a wedding band, or a statement piece worn on its own, or as a stacking ring to add some fun texture to your stack. Around 2.5-2.8 mm band width. Oxidized for a matte look and a more organic, natural feel.
• The shadow band features a rough, blackened texture on the outside. The pattern is rough and random, so no two rings are ever the same. Around 2.5-2.8 mm band width. Oxidized for a matte look and a more organic, natural feel.

We use traditional metalsmithing techniques rather than wax carving, which means that we make our rings one by one, and that the textures are created by hand for each individual ring. As a result, each pattern is completely unique. Kind of like you.

Unlike the smooth silver ring you see on everyone’s fingers, this ring features a black rhodium plating or oxidized silver finish. Every single indent is created or hammered by hand with strength and precision, to create a distressed texture. The inside of the band is smooth and flat, with a slight D-shaped curve on the outside of the ring, for comfortable everyday wear.

Keep in mind that black rhodium isn’t an alloy, it’s a plating. Even though rhodium itself helps as a scratch-resistant, sooner or later, the color will fade and need another finishing. 

Oxidized recycled sterling silver

We use recycled silver from Umicore. This company is listed as a Conflict Free Smelter by the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMA), Chain-of-Custody certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council (RJC), and complies with the LBMA Responsible Ag Guidance. We opt for recycled silver as an interim solution while we look into setting up a traceable supply chain for artisanal, pollution free silver.

Oxidized silver is a technique that sped up the tarnishing process. It’s only done on the surface, so it doesn’t affect the durability of the sterling silver base. Over time, the surface layer may come off and reveal the sterling silver underneath. Humidity, pollution, and the sebum on your skin may keep the ring black or turn it back to shiny silver.
